What's your favorite momism?
It can be funny or poignant. Maybe it's something your mom always said that you thought was cheesy or simplistic -- at the time.
Now that you're a mom, you realize the truth of the momism.
I remember being particularly frustrated with one of my boys and my mom said what she had said so often before: "Just love him."
I thought, "Just love him? Of course, I love him!"
What I didn't realize at the time was that "just" covers a multitude of sins and shortcomings.
No matter what he did or didn't do, how he responded or didn't, I needed to love him.
Unconditionally.
He needed to understand that my love was based on nothing but love -- not performance, not obedience, not the right answer.
I needed to just love him through that time. My love was what he'd remember about that difficult passage in his life.
"Just love him" came to mean so much more.

My mom (and dad) always told me there was NOTHING I could ever do that I could not come back home. That gave me so much security.
You'll be a mom some day. When ever she's over and my children are acting up. She looks at me and smiles.(loving every moment)
My own mother had great momisms: my favorite that I have passed on to my kids:

Just when I was feeling that I looked the most beautiful, my mother would say "Pretty is as pretty does." How often I have thought of this and repeated it to my daughter. Thanks for reminding me of this. Clella
"Hust love him", I like that a lot.
"Don't wish your life away," said my mom whenever I wished for days or weeks to pass more quickly.
"Look it up," said my mom, pointing to the dictionary.
Both have been passed on, the second even to my husband's college students.
