Places to Go, People to Meet: Friday's Fave Five

August 6, 2010
Happy Friday! It's time to look back at the blessings of the week. Thanks to Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for hosting this each week. Jump on over if you’d like to join in.

Here are my favorites from this week:

1. Writers I love to visit. Oh, there are many of them, so I’ll do this again in coming weeks. But today I want to share with you some people who bless my week. They’re all different and bless me in different ways. Go visit these ladies – Graceful, Wonders Never Cease, and Boy Crazy.

2. Seeing friends again. As school begins for me next week, there are some things I’m not looking forward to, but I will be so glad to see my teacher friends again. I love the people I work with, and that’s a blessing.

3. This video. I saw this on a blog this week and just loved it. I wanted to share it with you. It’s a video of a song about marriage called Dancing in the Minefields. So sweet.

4. A great book. (Do I say that every week?) I’m reading The Sword (Book One of the Chiveis Trilogy) by Bryan Litfin. It’s fascinating! Check out the book site for a description and video about the book.

5. This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

"Don't waste yourself in rejection, nor bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good."

"Chant the beauty of the good." Isn't that beautiful? That's my goal for this coming week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for the quote, too. It's a great quote for FFF....'chanting the beauty of the good'.

You are blessed to love the people you work with, and I know that makes YOU a blessing to them. “Chant the beauty of the good” – yes, that is a beautiful quote. And a great goal; I should make it my goal, too. Thanks for sharing.

I love that song, Laura. Thanks for sharing it. He's a new artist for me but what an easy voice to listen to. Have a great week.

This is pure poetry: Chant the beauty of the good. Do I ever need to do more of that!

Happy FFF!

Isn't it nice to look forward to seeing old friends again? What a blessing that the people you work with are friends and worth missing over the summer.

The Emerson quote blew me away. It reminds me of the biblical enjoinder to speak only those things that build people up. And a good philosophy for a mom and teacher, too, right? Thanks very much. Have a good week!

Hi Laura,
I love when the season changes and I meet up with friends I only see during that season. I'm headed to see the marriage song.
Praying you have a great start to your school year.

I wish I would chant the beauty of good and keep my mouth shut about the bad. I'm gonna work on that this week, thank you...

I missed FFF this week due to moving from SC to TN.

Thank you for that song. I had not heard it before but it is so deep and sweet.
