A Week to Remember: Friday's Fave Five

September 3, 2010
It’s time to share five of this week’s blessings with you. Friday’s Fave Five’s gracious host is Susanne at Living to Tell the Story. Visit there to learn more about how to join in.

Here are the highlights of my week:

1. Amazon.com. Oh, my. This could so very easily become an obsession. Almost every book I’ve ever looked for is there. Many are gently used and so reasonably priced. And with just a few clicks…! Actually, this is a blessing and a bane. I really have to restrain myself sometimes.

2. My first live radio interview for the book. I did it Monday and lived to tell! People asked how it went and I said, “I think it went well.” It’s hard to tell when you’re in it. It was with a radio station in Detroit, and the host was great – very easy to talk to. So many blessings associated with this – from my principal graciously letting me use his office and landline for it to one of my sons recording it for me! If you’d like to hear it, Kindred Heart Writers has posted it here.

3. Giveaways and other support. At least three blogger friends have scheduled giveaways, and one is going on right now! Be sure to visit Jennifer at Blogging ‘Bout Boys to enter! There’s a Q&A over there, too. And this week, so many great friends, near and far, have practically shouted encouragement and excitement over the book. I’m so thankful for all of you!

4. Sweet memories. Oh, the memories in the little things around this house. I’m so thankful for them. You can read about one here, but have a tissue handy. (Or you can just scroll down -- it's below.)

5. A quote from Eugene O’Neill.

“Man is born broken. He lives by mending. The grace of God is glue.”

Yeah, we’re broken. And that’s okay, because if we reach out and take it, the glue is right at hand. I’m ever so thankful for the glue.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

I hear you on Amazon, Mom. What really gets me is that it always ends up being just a little bit cheaper to buy $25+ of books for the free shipping...or maybe it just seems cheaper. I can't help myself!

Congratulations on the interview... that is awesome. I would be shaking in my boots! We have had a monumental week. My baby started kindergarten and next week, I go back to work part time after 9 years of being home. A little overwhelming.... but exciting! Have a beautiful weekend.

The interview was great!

I agree about Amazon. What I usually do when I see something I like there is put it on a wishlist there. Then when I get ready to make a purchase, I can choose among items on the wishlist to add up to $25 to get the free shipping.

That is a great quote.

Congrats on your book. It sounds like a good resource. I will be suggesting and lending out this book just as soon as I finish with my Amazon.com one click order!

Thanks for the giveaway and support info. ;)

Your quote reminds me of something I heard in a Boundaries class: "We are hurt in relationships and we heal in relationships."

What an exciting time for you!

I've purposely stayed away from Amazon ... lol.

I love the quote, and I love the grace of God. Sweet, sweet grace.

Loved the garage sale post. I have a couple of treasures from my kids, too, and they are just precious. Garage sale and Santa shop presents are just the best.

Congrats on your radio interview! I did one years ago and was a nervous wreck. It didn't help that it was first thing in the morning. I know I sounded like I just fell out of bed. (cringe)

Oh the amazon. It can blow my budget! LOL.

Congrats on the interview. I'll have to pop by and give a listen so I can put a voice to your written words and picture. :v)

I love that quote. And congratulations on the interview. Amazon is a dangerous place to discover, especially the used book vendors. So many have books for a penny for sale. I also love the Amazon Prime program. I've bought so many things (including heavy, non-book items) that are shipped free of charge and always arrive within 2 days through that program. I love it.

I totally agree about Amazon! I could so get into trouble on that site! lol

On another note, would you be interested in sending me a copy of your book so I could do a review on my blog? I would love to spread the word for you!
