Hope in the Promises

Monday October 31, 2011

I met an amazing group of women last week, and I got to spend 4 ½ days with them. We were participants in an awesome conference called the Christian Communicators Conference.

It was in beautiful South Carolina where we stayed by a lake nestled among beautiful trees. We were treated to seminars on everything from the basics of speaking to the paperwork involved in launching a speaking ministry. There were sweet moments, hilarious moments, even some nerve-wracking ones as each of us prepared a five minute presentation for critique and videotaping.

I was educated, inspired, and drawn closer to my Source.

Listening to this diverse group of women, I was reminded of our commonality. Yes, we are all so different; we’ve had different experiences and paths. Our messages are about hope for working moms, perseverance through loss, faith in the midst of cancer, spiritual re-awakenings—just to name a few. But our need for the Saviour cuts across those lines.

We were reminded, through each other’s lives and testimonies, that God never promised an easy path. But He did promise to be by our side, whether the road is steep or even. Our stories testified of His enduring love, His faithfulness, and His strength in our lives.

Parting words on Sunday reminded us that “no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken to us by the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20).

“Yes” in Christ! Isn’t that a great phrase? Through Christ, the “Amen” is spoken to us—and by the glory of God.

A beautiful passage, in my mind, and full of hope.
A great way to start my week!

Delightful Lady Laura,
You were an added blessing at the Christian Communicators conference. Your insights and love for Moms was a fresh awaking for those of us enjoying grandchildren. Now is the time for us to reach back and lift the young mothers out of the chaos of isolation and frustration.
Write on.

Uplifting blessings,
Carolyn
