Can you name five blessings from your week? Susanne from Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday’s Fave Five each week. Click on over and see her if you’d like to join in!
Here are my favorites for this past week.
1. Madrigal Dinner 2011. Our annual school production was Monday and Tuesday of this week, and the kids were awesome. I told them our goal was to get better each time we practiced or performed, and they did just that. Beautiful songs of praise, tons of Christmas candles, trees, and twinkling lights, breathtaking costumes…it was an incredible time. I’ll share pictures when I get some.
2. An end in sight. We’ve been reviewing for exams this week and the kids take them next week…then Christmas begins! Looking forward to that light at the end of the tunnel.
3. Christmas specials, music, you name it. I’m loving all the Christmas specials on television, the music everywhere. You have to hear this song! Just follow the link and play -- it's SO cute!
4. Writing, directing. Back to the Madrigal Dinner – I write the script for the play each year and I direct the drama. People are always so full of praise and I do appreciate that. But what a blessing it is to me, to be able to use what God’s given me. Just think – to write something and then to get to see it come to life on the stage. It’s a real blessing for me.
5. A quote.
“So strong, so beautiful is hope, that it is scarcely possible to overpraise it. It is the divine alchemy that transmutes the base metal of adversity into gold.” (A.W. Tozer)
This is a season full of hope. The coming of that babe in the manger is hope personified. And through the “divine alchemy,” He transmutes the adversity of life into gold; a manger becomes the birthplace of a king who is welcomed by shepherds and kings alike. He comes to die so that we might live. Divine alchemy, indeed.
Wishing you hope in the coming week.

awesome list of faves this week, Laura! how exciting to be a part of the whole Madrigal thing...I love events like that! My oldest is getting a taste of the busyness of exam week....she has her first college final in a couple of days....a busy time but I can't wait until we see her next weekend!! you always have such great quotes! Tozer is one of my husband's faves!
So glad that the Madrigal event went so well! It really is a blessing to be able to use the gifts that God has given us.
And hope ... I think everybody needs that. Thanks for sharing this quote.
Glad the Madrigal went so well. It is awesome that you are able to use your talents and abilities.
Great quote. I love Tozer!
I bet the Madrigal dinner was awesome! Must be so cool to see something you're written come to life!
I've only caught parts of a couple of Christmas specials and movies, but I have enjoyed them!
The Tozer quote is wonderful. Glad the Madrigal went so well, too. Love your list.
Oh, I love Christmas specials too. Last night my girls and I curled up for another viewing of "Frosty the Snowman". I love watching a holiday movie with them that I watched as a child!
I always enjoy your Friday Faves, Laura.
Yay! I'm so glad your show went well, although, I had no doubts. :) I'll look forward to photos. I'm sure it must be even more special seeing it through your eyes.
I am positively marinating in Christmas movies, music, preparations and decorations. I'm getting a lot of eyerolls and mock disdain from the boys, but I can tell they love it, too. They are really taking the changes in stride this year. *whew*
I hope the week goes by quickly and that you enjoy your Christmas break.
This week, I like your comment on the quote even better than the quote itself!
It's so wonderful that you have something you so love to do! Glad the Madrigal Dinner was a success again this year!
