And Yet

March 12, 2012
The unexpected does interesting things to life and faith. A January phone call bearing news of our son’s serious injuries has opened the door to so much. To joy and relief, to tears and impatience, but most of all to Him.

And Yet

I didn’t ask to be prepared for Lent.
At least, not yet.
I was still reeling from Christmas, still reveling in the incarnation.

Yet with the jangling of a phone, my heart tore open.
Open to receive.
My lips grew silent.
Silent to hear.
My breath came ragged
Ready for His mending.
My eyes filled with tears to taste suffering…to remember His.

And yet, through the rending and mending that has marked each day since,
I have seen His face.
Felt His heart.
Been redeemed daily by those nevertheless nails He took in my place.

Joining Laura, Jen, and Michelle with words from the heart.

Do you have some? Come join us.

Your words here are so raw and honest, Laura. I cannot imagine the shock. So glad you linked this up -- may all of us with mama hearts surround you with thanksgiving and prayer.

I am so happy to see your words again, I've missed you, and I have been praying for you and your sweet boy. (It figures that I was sick this past Friday and missed your return!)
What a beautiful post. Thank you.
It's amazing how life changes in an instant, isn't it? Where would we be without faith?

What a heart-breaking, heart-healing journey this must be, Laura. It makes me tremble to imagine. And yet, you have tucked deeper into God through it all. What an amazing woman you are. Still praying for healing and God to work ever deeper through it all.
