Darkness to Daylight

Monday March 19, 2012

Ever had dark days?

What do you do with them?

Glad to see a crack of sunlight under the door, do you stuff those dark days in the past? Run as quickly toward the light as your legs will take you?

Do you wallow in them? Wear them as a badge, perhaps—a symbol of endurance?

As I reflect on the last eight weeks or so, I’ve had all of those reactions. My eyes fell on this verse a couple of days ago though, and I’ve been turning it over in my mind ever since.

“What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs” (Matthew 10:27).

Friends have said, “You’ll have to write about this.”
“There are things here for your next book.”
“You hate that this kind of thing happens to anyone, but at least you’re a writer. You can write and minister to the rest of us.”

I don’t have a fully formed idea of what that would look like right now, but I do know this.

I have heard from Him in dark days, and I’ll be speaking in the daylight. What He whispers will be proclaimed from my roof.

He doesn’t waste anything…and neither will I.

Joining Laura, Jen, and Michelle with words from the heart.

Do you know how happy I am to see your smiling face back?

Just read about this verse in Bible Study tonight, and now, I see it here, hmmm.

You were missed. Big time.

**YES**!!! I love what you're saying here and agree wholeheartedly. And I love the way you say it--you are so concise.

I'm glad to see you back. I was thinking about you the other day.

I'm sorry you've had dark days. There's a lot of those going around lately. I love your approach to coping.

It's amazing how He uses us!

About a year after E's three hour seizure and hospitalization, our pastor let us know about another family within the church whose young sons were hospitalized...one having had a couple of seizures. We knew of the couple, but didn't know them much. I wrote them a letter of encouragement...and the next time they were at church they confirmed I was Annette and thanked me. We've been friendly ever since. Our boys, now 3, are even friends now! God will use these dark days for His purpose. I'm so glad you seek to use it for His glory, in whatever way he leads you.
Hugs!

Oh, Laura. Your words always speak of His light. My prayers have been with you, friend. The light is so much brighter for the dark.
