Last year I discovered a simple technique for putting my mind and heart at rest.
It was November, and I was impressed by all those 31 Dayers who had posted every day of October. With a copy of One Thousand Gifts at my side, I decided I’d make November a month of thankfulness.
When I shifted my mindset to thankfulness, it’s amazing what happened. At stoplights, instead of thinking, “Why doesn’t this thing change?” I found myself looking for little things to be thankful for.
The list was endless. There was so much—both big and small—to be thankful for.
And you know what happened to my focus? It went heavenward. Gradually, I began to see that every little thing was from Him. And there were so many little things!
I could rest in what I had instead of striving for what I didn’t…because there was so much wealth there.
Only a loving Father would give like that, to one who all too often forgets to remember Him.
So, give your mind and heart a rest. A rest from worry and striving and “more, more, more.”
Rest in the small things.

Good plan, Laura.
Amen. Resting in the small things.
I love focusing on all the small things He has given. I've been counting gifts for over a year now and it's amazing how much there is to count!
Loved your post, today, Laura.
Amen, Amen, Laura. What a great reminder.
Isn't it interesting how God comes into focus when we stop to give thanks? thanks for this reminder Laura
