Working Women of the Bible

Tuesday March 12, 2013

Susan DiMickele, author of Chasing Superwoman, releases a new book today!

It’s called Working Women of the Bible, and Susan knows of what she speaks.

She has worked outside the home since her twelve-year-old son was born, and she is well acquainted with the dilemma of the modern working woman.

After she wrote Chasing Superwoman, she knew she wasn’t finished; Susan felt there were more stories to be told. And what better place to find those stories than in scripture?

The women of the Bible were not of the modern era, but they faced many of our same challenges. They were raising (and sometimes providing for) a family, caring for the elderly, growing in faith, being strong for their families.

The Bible is filled with stories of women who succeeded and failed, who worked hard, who had broken hearts and experienced second chances. Women I can relate to.

Susan makes the point that even when we decide to stop chasing Superwoman, she’s still chasing us – at every turn! Society sets up that unattainable standard of perfection and offers quick fixes to all our dilemmas. But if we look to society to solve those problems, we’re looking in the wrong direction.

God’s Word tells the story of women who can help us. Be mentored by those who lived by faith in incredibly trying times, some who actually set their eyes on the face of Christ. Susan shows, through these women’s stories, how God used them and how he can use us today.

Hi Laura! Thanks so much for popping over to my blog and for your sweet comment. Four boys?! I'm sure I have a lot I could learn from you, considering I have two young ones. I checked out your book on amazon. It looks great, and congrats on the great reviews!

I can relate to the theme here of chasing Superwoman or being chased by her. In our society it's really one or the other (or both!), isn't it? All the time.

Best wishes! Erica
