Two of my favorite things.
Books and the great outdoors.
I'm linking up with Susanne of Living to Tell the Story today for Friday's Fave Five, where we share our blessings from the week.
Here are my favorites for this week:
1. A homecoming. My hubby has been out of town this week, and I’m awfully glad to have him home! It’s been quiet and I’ve gotten a lot done, but I sure have missed him.
2. A visit. You didn’t hear from me last week because my son Andrew was here on his Easter Break. If you remember what we went through more than a year ago, you’ll understand how wonderful it was to have him at home this April. He was just beginning to take steps this time last year, and now he’s walking without a cane and doing so well. It was just great having him here.
3. A play! Our students are presenting “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” this weekend. Really looking forward to their performance!
4. A great group of moms. I’m speaking today to a great moms ministry here in South Florida. I’m so excited. Praying for our time together.
5. A quote:
“A good book is the precious life-blood of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life.” (John Milton)
You know me—a real sucker for books (and quotes about them).
I love the idea that books are “treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life.” Helping uncover that “life beyond life”—the universal themes and strivings found in precious books—is why I feel privileged to be an English teacher.
Wishing you a good book this week,

I can't wait to hear all about your speaking engagement to the moms group! And Praise God that Andrew is walking now with no cane!! I love a good book, too. I just finished The Rebel Wife, an historical fiction post Civil War set in Alabama. Truly one of the best I've read so far this year. Taught me some new things too! Happy Spring, Laura!
How poignant this Easter must have been in light of everything that had gone on since last time.
Glad your hubby got back ok.
LWW would be such a fun play to do! Hope your speaking engagement goes well.
How exciting that Andrew is walking even without a cane! What a long way he's come. Much to celebrate for your family this Easter!
Have a wonderful time at your speaking engagement!
What a great journey of healing you all have been on! So glad to hear of Andrew's progress.
Any time a family member comes home makes it a special time.
I love the LWW. I'm sure the play will turn out well.
Great list and you know I love books too!
ooh Good books and spring! yes I love those too. And family! The best.
