Divine Writing

Friday May 10, 2013

Where is the divine written?

In more places than you may think.

My fifth favorite today, a quote, speaks to just that.

I’m linking up today with Susanne of Living to Tell the Story for Friday’s Fave Five, where we recount the week’s blessings.

Why not come along? It’s amazing what thankfulness can do.

My favorites this week:

1. Countdown. Yes, we’re counting the days down at school. Six more class meetings, then exams. It’s a wonderful thing.

2. A boy home! Yes, college boy has come home. It’s just great to have him here. He’s fun to cook for.

3. Wedding plans. As mother of the groom there’s not much responsibility, but I do love hearing about how things are moving ahead for my son and future daughter-in-law. They’ve rented their first home and are acquiring all kinds of things they’ll need. What fun!

4. Returning graduates. It’s that time of year when as kids come home from college, they stop by the old high school to catch up. It’s just great to see beloved students again.

5. A quote that rings especially true in the beautiful spring:

“God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.” (Martin Luther)

Since our marriage, we’ve never lived in a truly rural setting, and I’d love to someday. Some of our best family memories revolve around the Grand Canyon, cabins, lakes, bungalows, canoes…such peace. If I need to get unblocked and opened up, all I have to do is spend some time in nature.

Why?

Because He is written on the trees and flowers and clouds and stars.

Wishing you some time in nature this week,

Lovely 5s this week Laura!

I feel just the same about the countryside - I love living in a rural area near farms and fields and woods and just a few minutes from the sea. It feeds my soul. I think I'd wilt in an urban area. Although I do like to visit occasionally :)

Glad your college boy is home - I bet it livens up the place!

Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!

I couldn't agree more with your last fave--great quote and so true! My dream is to live on an ocean beach :) but I'd settle for a lakeside or mountain stream. Any place where three are trees, flowers, and flowing waters refreshes my spirit. Although Grand Canyon's depth scares me, it also is truly awe-some in its grandeur.

Countdowns are fun and encouraging. Hope your last days of school fly by and have pockets of the unforgettable.

You must have made an impact on your former students to have them stop by for a visit. Thanks for that care, Laura. You are making a difference.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.

I know what you mean as the mother of the groom. It's fun to see things coming together but nice to have the weight of the responsibility.

When we lived in SC, my guys liked to go visit their old school, too.

Neat to have one boy home and school nearly done.

I am not much of an outdoorsy person, but I do love seeing God's handiwork in nature. There is a lake near my m-i-l's place that I enjoy gazing at on the way to see her, and seeing all the new growth in spring is rejuvenating.

When my son returned home at that time, we hardly saw him ! I called him "the draft" because he was always in and out with his friends, our phone was ringing constantly (never for us) the door bell rang x times per day (never for us) Cooking for him would have been a waste of time, he never knew if he wasn't invited elsewhere, lol !
I tell you after each visit we collapsed on the sofa !

I am totally like that too. Love getting out to the mountains or down to our river bottom and just being in nature. It's where I connect with the Lord most.

How exciting to have your son coming home for the summer. Gattina's comment made me laugh. Some kids are just totally social creatures! And how fun to have some of your students popping in and visiting.

I would love to live near a lake and mountains, probably more so in the warm months than the winter. LOL. There is no way I could talk hubby into something like that though. He's a city guy.

I think one has to work pretty hard to look around the beauty and complexity and sheer genius of creation and NOT see the hand of God in them. Great quote.

Isn't it motivating to have someone fun to cook for? Mmm, yes! Enjoy your last days of school. Summer is coming!
